You will be more than happy to line up for the amazing smoked fish and fresh cream cheeses, nuts and dried fruits at this institution of a Jewish deli. Russ and Daughters has been on the Lower East Side since 1914 and is still going strong, partly because of the wide range of gourmet merchandise they squeeze into the little space, and partly because of the way they make every customer feel special.

AN NYC TO DO When in NYC for the first time visiting make sure you go here and try their bagels. Take a number. Don’t mind the queue as the wait is well worth it. While waiting try the strawberry licorice or the chocolate coated halva bar.

$55 to deliver 12 bagels? Are you KIDDING me? $15 for 12 bagels PLUS $55 to deliver. Never. My family has been shopping with this store since Joel Russ was in place. Never ever again. And trust me, I'm telling EVERYONE about this.

Worth the wait A diamond in a less pristine part of NYC - we came here for breakfast on recommendations from friends. I had the eggs w/ lox - delicious. My mother "doesn't like fish," but reports that the french toast was the best she's ever had! Everyone loved their breakfast. Bathrooms were clean. We didn't feel rushed, though we did wait 35 minutes for a table on a Thursday morning.

Another good Deli If It's your first time, and you came for the story or the atmosphere so go ahead, take the beagle & Lux (nice verity) and that's that… nice and tasty but not much different from a lot of other Delis… the old lower east side charm is long gone, so there is not much sense going there specially and pay that much.

Amazing quality, but is it worth the wait? We were in at 11:30 on a Saturday. Took 75 min in line, which is a bit rough... gaspe salmon on an onion bagel, with chive cream cheese king salmon on an onion bagel, plain cream cheese, red onion Bagels were good. king salmon was great, gaspe was amazing. Also picked up some herring in cream, which my wife assures me was incredibly well done. All together, it was around $35. It's worth going once, for the experience, but it definitely wasn't worth waiting 75 minutes in a cramped space. 20 min, maybe?

Can't go wrong The sandwiches here are excellent. The bagel with salmon and caviar is absolutely sublime! It is a must-try for anyone looking for the New York culinary experience.

Bagels! Yes, it’s a crazy long wait most of the time (don’t be surprised if you’ve to wait for an hour), but the bagels are very very good. Not sure if I’d go again giving the wait, but everyone should try it at least once
