I ordered an fz55 mk1 from Rugged Books about 2 weeks ago. It immediately had issues with hardware drivers, which I wasn’t expecting from a reputable refurbished electronics company, but I was able to get them manually updated from Panasonic’s website. I really like the Toughbook line, but am unwilling to spend $3000 for a new one, so a refurb from Ruggedbooks (RB) seemed like a good solution, to the extent I've bought two from them (two orders; I liked the first one, so ordered a second one). The plastic shell of the machines look very nice cosmetically, they boot up and run ok, and don't cost $3000 each. That's the good part. I got sent a defective laptop and was unable to troubleshoot the issue with support. I was told I could return it, but upon returning it I was not refunded the entire cost of the laptop. It feels like I got scammed. I sent a follow up email to them asking for a full refund, but have not received any response.
Purchased a third Toughbook, the second refurb I have purchased, from RuggedBooks. This one was imaged to Win11 22H2 and would not update to Win11 24H2. Spoke with Gavan who with the tech team at support assured me it would update in a few days. I initially doubted this was the solution and that Windows was capable of fixing the issue by me waiting but, after a couple days and also Gavan checking back with me and offering alternate solutions, the update did happen. I ordered a CF-20 Toughbook from Rugged Books because I wanted a solid, sturdy, and small laptop for amateur radio use. I really like the computer, their customer and sales support, and their fast communications.
