About

Roux is a charming New Orleans style restaurant that serves up a selection of delicious, refined creole dishes. With dishes composed of bold Creole flavors, fresh, local ingredients and the finesse of French techniques, the restaurant offers diners a contemporary and unique take on this age-old cuisine. Every dish, from the crispy pig ear with buffalo sauce and grilled octopus, to the jambalaya, turtle soup and burger, is prepared with skill and beautifully presented. With a bar offering a variety of 12 beers on tap, an excellent wine list, delicious cocktails, late night snacks and happy hour specials from 4p to 6p on weekdays, Roux is just as popular for its bar as it is for its cuisine. Sad face- closing this week Sad, very sad to say that our favorite bar and restaurant is done. Feb 18 is their last day, loved this place!

Visit Center of Universe-Fremont & Dine in New Orleans! We went for a graduation celebration dinner and go back to, "Laissez le bon temps rouler." Cozy comfort at the tables and a wide open space to enjoy. The atmosphere is jubilant warmth. The staff are encouraging, informative, relaxed and efficient. The drinks are deliciously generous. Hush puppies and Crab Ravigote get us started usually. Jambalaya and Blackened Catfish are favorites, with the Crawfish Boil, when available. They do our Pacific NW favorite, salmon well too. Their desserts are all worth the calories, but we have to have two plates of Beignets. For out of town visitors, be sure to add in a tour of Fremont, a cosmic collection of conversation cook-up sites. Great walking in summer.

Best gumbo this side of Eunice, Louisiana. An excellent entertainment venue with a scrumptious Lousiana menu.

Cajun/Creole in an unlikely place This used to the the iconic Buckaroo Tavern. Then the "Buck" lost its lease, and a few years later Roux was born, the name apparently a tribute to the late lamented dive bar. Food here is tasty and workmanlike, nothing fancy. Basic Cajun/Creole. Service is pleasant. Chairs are hard as heck, so it's not a comfortable place to linger. It's a five minute walk from my house, which makes going there for weekend brunch a pleasant choice. Surprisingly family-friendly, given that it's built around its large bar. I don't think this is a "go out of your way" place, but if you're in or around the Fremont or Phinney neighborhoods of Seattle this is definitely a good choice for a tasty meal.

Friendly staff and amazing food and atmosphere. Make a reservation, it gets busy and it’s obvious why! Love the music.
