I'm a Google Local Guide (Level 7, 86 reviews) — I don't write reviews like this lightly. The Roost Resort has a genuinely nice physical setup — well-maintained grounds and facilities. Unfortunately, our visit was marred by how the visitor fee was enforced. We drove 300+ miles each way to visit family staying at the resort. Saturday we paid the $10/car visitor fee without issue, though it came with a long lecture about costs, being a mom-and-pop operation, and "registered guests only" on the walk to the office. The Roost cabin (bear’s den) was fantastic! Rustic but clean, comfortable, and perfect for us!

Roost Resort. My husband and I have been coming to Custer State Park for many years. Each year we try to find our home away from home, we stayed in the park at The State Game Lodge, Sylvan Lake, Blue Bell, Keystone, Hill City and even downtown Custer.
