I special ordered two beams for a exposed beam patio cover. 6”x8”x16’ kiln dried no. 1 grade. The cost was just over $400. One beam is perfect, one has a good sized split that runs the entire length and goes through in a couple places. I went back and asked if I could exchange the split beam. Nope. You might think they would have considered that I still need to buy eight more beams and over 300sq/ft of lumber for the roof before they denied my request to exchange one beam.
