My children danced at the Robert Ivey Ballet from the time they were little (5 and 3) until they left for college. Their time at the RIB gave them a lasting love for dance, healthy minds and disciplined bodies, and an ability to work cooperatively with their peers. At 25 my oldest works at a great job in her field and has just started studying ballet again and finds to her delight that she is the most accomplished dancer in her Adult 2 class. Shout-out for ADULT BEGINNER CLASSES on Mondays 6:30-8PM and Saturdays 11-12:30PM. The format is very accessible; the principal instructor is delightfully insane and will keep you laughing as you are dying to adagios...! And there are pretty much always at least two dance professionals in attendance, which is a major privilege for learning what the movements are eventually supposed to look like (+ they are absolutely AMAZING to watch and sometimes even take over to teach the class!!). Outstanding in every way. Michael watches each dancer with a careful eye. He knows when and how far to correct. He knows when to be serious and when to add a splash of humor. You can trust him to provide the perfect blend of serious ballet instruction and pure enjoyment.
