My grandmother spent the last couple of months of her life at Richfield while battling the final stages of ALS. While a few staff members showed compassion, most were disorganized, uncooperative, and unwilling to work with our family—even as we advocated for her comfort during hospice care. My mom has been very happy at Richfield. She started off in the independent apartments, and gradually moved to the Oaks as the level of care she needed increased. While no nursing home facility is perfect, at Richfield the majority of the staff DO seem to care. And that counts for something.
For the most part it is a safe healthy environment. The residents are nice. The staff is good. The dining hall situation...they make her pay $150 for the Cafe each month, it does not roll over. You don't use it, you lose it. On the upside the food is okay, service is good.
