In 1949, Richard purchased used furniture from individuals in the greater Lawrence area and from the auctions in Boston. Shortly thereafter, Richard started selling new furniture. In 1954, Richard's moved to Archer Street, in 1964 Richard's outgrew the Archer Street location and purchased the old Lawrence wholesale drug building at 25 Water Street, where Richard's sells only brand new name brand home furnishings.
