Today my Mom and I visited Heartland in our pursuit of finding assisted care accommodations for my brother. We were welcomed by their community marketing specialist, Milly Webb. She was so generous in sharing her time and information about the residence as well as her knowledge of other options for consideration. The staff at Heartland, Okotoks are awesome!! The Sunday brunches have been amazing!! Great way to get families together!! Great atmosphere for the residents and their families!!!

This facility should be recommended for people 60-80 years old who have no dementia, and no physical impairments. It would be a lovely home for people who have just retired and don't want to be burdened with cooking or cleaning and just want to enjoy their life - but it is not a good option if you are actually showing any debilitating signs of aging - physically or mentally. 1. POOR FOOD QUALITY/OPTIONS: This has been the general consensus & main complaint of residents for years & they still haven't made long term improvements. Many residents have decided to purchase their own groceries. 2. HIGH TURNOVER OF STAFF: In every department, including executive directors. In the last 5 years there's been 4 or 5 directors. My elderly Mother has resided at The Heartland for more than a year now. The staff have been very patient with her, as she arrived with high anxiety with the passing of her husband. She has now settled in thanks to their continued support. Their follow through has always been on-point with her medical care, and they have taken the time to make sure she has what she needs on a day-to-day basis.
