Everyone makes mistakes but it bothers me when a government worker is adamant about an honest error. The city sent us a notice of unpaid property taxes despite the fact that our mortgage bank had paid. The bank ended up paying the 2nd time without performing any due diligence on their end resulting in a duplicate payment and our mortgage payments increasing for almost 2 years. 2 years in a row they delay refunding my tax overpayment. Last year, they kept forgetting. I had to go to the office 3 times and call several times to get them to work on it. They kept losing my information. Initially requested refund in October last year, didn't end up receiving it until the end of April 2024. Now, I made my request in Sept 2024, and it's currently Dec 2024. 90 days after my request. But I called, only to find out that they hadn't even started processing my information...
