Disgruntled customer I shopped Remke for 15 years,spent over 100 dollars a week.Since they built the new Kroger I have been shopping there for the much bigger produce section and the gas perks.Well when Remke offered even bigger gas perks I thought they might just get me back.So I tied my Remke card to Speedway gas station and I went in to try it out.I spent almost 230 dollars on groceries for just me and my wife,I didn't need half of the things I bought but I went around and picked out all the gas perk specials.They rung it... read more
frequent shopper Remke Market in Newport is OK. I'm black and I've not experienced any kind of racial experience since I've been going there. I find certain items reasonably priced and some that aren't and that's where you use common sense and go some where else. Same for greens. When most Black people refer to greens, they are referring to fresh greens like, collard, mustard, turnip and kale. (Remeke does carry collard greens in a bag) . Definitely Kentucky I read the previous review calling Remke Market in Newport Kentucky a Racist Establishment.
Racist??? who are you kidding? ok. 1st off, newport is not a black city. for someone to think that, well they are totally ignorant. i went to newport high school as a matter of fact. remke is a very convenient grocery store. if you dont like it, shop somewhere else!
I don't think remke's is racist first this particular store pulls business from at least two cities Newport and Ft. Thomas. I live in ft.thomas and I am one of the few Black people in ft. thomas so I wouldn't ever call that a black neighborhood. and as for newport... there are alot on minorities in Newport but again I wouldn't call that a black neighborhood either. White Store This store shows the worst case of racism in this area. First there are no minorities employed there. Which is very odd considering they are located in a black neighborhood. They also do not carry a variety of foods for all peoples taste. For example, no greens. The icing on the cake was when I heard a manager telling jokes about a mexican on the way out of the store. I will never give this store my buisness again, and I hope that people take this into consideration when shopping there.
Great Local Store Remke's usually has some great deals each week. Prices aren't so bad on the non-sale items either. The location is very convenient, easy to get in and out when in a hurry. I also love the shopper's card which gives money to an organization of your choice. I know our band boosters use this and they make a little extra money each month.
Cheaper than Krogers this store is cheaper than krogers. The prices are ok . the employees are friendly and helpful. Newport has trouble keeping grocery stores I hope this one stays
