Late last week, Levi swallowed a toy squeaker. After speaking to the vet, they sent in some medicine that was supposed to help the toy pass. Instead, Levi continued to vomit and later would throw up what looked and smelled to be feces. Yes, he was throwing up his own feces! He was rushed back to the vet where they performed emergency surgery. Amy, my sister, got a call that night to let her know the surgery was a success and he was doing fine. She asked to see him, they said yes, but only if you pay several thousand dollars up front. They wouldn’t even let her see her dog without full payment first. When they received their money, they took Levi outside where Amy could see him from outside a fenced in area. He was happy, wagging his tail, and started to eat for the first time since the surgery. However, he was falling over and had blood coming from his nose and mouth. She was told this was normal post surgery. Okay, fine. After getting home, she received a phone call that told her he was starting to get his personality back. He was happy to see his mommy! The next morning, not even 12 hrs later, they called her and told her she needed to make the decision to put him down. Why would she need to put him down if she was just told he was doing great? She rushed to the vet and demanded to see him, as anyone would. They placed him on a cold, hard gurney and wheeled him outside in 29 degree weather after being shaved. He was shivering and freezing. He didn’t have much hair to keep him warm. There was even more blood pouring from his face than before. Around that time is when my mom showed up and immediately grabbed every towel, blanket, and jacket she could find and laid them on top to keep him warm. They asked if there was internal bleeding and ask for an X-ray to find out why he declined so quickly. They refused. Even after they offered to pay for the extra tests, they still refused. The staff had become extremely hostile and rude. So they decided to take him to another vet for tests to find out the truth of what had happened. Because my mom has a dog that goes to this vet, she asked if she could take the gurney with Levi on it since he isn’t to be moved. He had his intestine cut open so of course he shouldn’t be lifted in anyway. My mom explained how she would bring the gurney back and if she failed to do so (which she wouldn’t), they had her card on file and could charge it to her account. The rude staff said “no” then proceeded to lift this massive dog off the table. Levi’s eyes got very wide as if to say “somethings wrong, I’m in pain, help” when my sister and mom tried to help lift Levi they were rudely shoved away. This staff member did not even pick him up properly, she picked him up under his arms stretching his already sliced open abdomen. (Even after we were told he shouldn’t be moved because ripping the stitches would kill him). She then proceeded to place him very aggressively in the car almost as if she meant to throw him. The second she did this, blood poured from his face even more so than before and then he took his last breath. He never made it to the second vet for help. They have been responsible for countless cat and dog deaths from simple procedures, to kennel stays.
