In 1970, Earl and Mary Redner bought two small supermarkets near Reading, Pa., and started the first chain of employee-owned supermarkets in Pennsylvania. The stores were operated as IGA Food Stores franchises until 1979, when the company began operating its stores under the name Redner's Markets. Ignorant lady at checkout ..believe her name was NANCY...gave awful looks -rude!!not to mention her awful tone of attitude ...if she is having a bad day there no reason to makes someone else have one ..makes the store look bad and a bad first impression for new customers...we happened to be one of them ...not saying we won't come back but will never go to her again!
