I am not writing about the Courtenay Branch in particular, but RBC as a whole. I called the 1-800 number to get information, after several attempts to get a machine to understand what I wanted, it told me I had to go into the branch in person. I called the local Courtenay number to get more information before driving into town, and got the same machine. I am so fed up with every business that does not have a local contact number. The ones that do are few and far between these days.

Dont make plans for the rest of the day if you have to stand in line. They're doing something back there. Not sure if its banking but it sure is something.

Just stopped in for a bank draft - I got there at 8:45 and was first in line. It did line up significantly behind me but it seems like it was moving at a good pace when they opened. The teller (I didn’t catch her name) was very polite, helpful and genuine. She made sure everything was correct. Similar experience to stopping in at a branch on the mainland and not many seniors as others have reported. Perhaps getting here when they open is the difference, but overall a normal in-person banking experience.

Impossible to get an appointment. Not a single day available to talk to an advisor. Will be closing investment accounts and savings accounts and moving elsewhere.
