In 2022 I applied for an $8k loan for a vehicle and it was declined by Gerben, who stated “these rules are put in place to protect both RBC and its clients”. The same month Kootenay Savings approved the loan, and it has been repaid early in full. In 2026 I am in a position to apply for a mortgage. Always short staffed sloooow
The bank teller looked directly at my screen while I was manually entering my password to verify my account and then made a personal comment about my password choice. This was extremely inappropriate and made me uncomfortable. Passwords are private and confidential by nature, and staff should take care to look away or provide a secure method for verification rather than observing sensitive information. RBC is the worst bank I’ve ever used. Stay away. I travel frequently. And have told the credit card company this. They locked my card and I could not use the card for a deposit when I got to my hotel room. That’s no problem, but I called to get it unblocked and the question they asked me was what is the exact date that I opened up my mortgage and the amount of my payment.
