Purls Experience While in Tucson on business, stopped in Purls looking for unusual yarn. The staff was very friendly and helpful even though a class was starting. A couple of weeks later discovered I did not have enough yarn. Called the store and they were very helpful and are sending the yarn I need.

Fabulous, Fun, & Friendly!! I've been knitting for only about 3 years, and have gone to Purl's on Broadway exclusively. Everyone there is extremely helpful and friendly... even as a total clueless novice I was welcomed and encouraged. It was a great place before, but with the new ownership it's even better. The owners are all outstanding knitters and are very easy to talk to and are all very willing to help and share their knowledge. They have changed ownership... And it's an improvement. I went in the store a few months ago, and was certainly not overwhelmed with friendliness. They did answer the questions I asked, but it felt kind of cold. I went in there this week for the first time since the ownership changed, and the atmosphere is much more friendly, more fun. Really a 2.5 I've been knitting for 4 years. I've been in both stores a number of times. Sometimes not so friendly or in recent years customer service has been improving. Not a welcome place for browsers or novices. I go there as a last resort.

try it, you'll like it I recently became a knitter and found Purls, on Broadway. I find the selection and quality of the yarns fantastic. I have taken several private lessons and look forward to taking many more, the level of instruction is superb. But what keeps me coming back is the people that I have met there. The staff bends over backwards to help me, and welcome me like an old friend when I come through the door. If you must go... I have been to this knitting shop several times (both before and after the move) and haven't been all that impressed. Their staff is now friendly (I did have a VERY unfriendly person before, but the last few times I had gone they were nice) but their prices are high. I understand the costs of running businesses, however with the extent of items that can be found now online, I prefer to shop online or at another knitting store in town.

Good selection, not always the nicest staff Purl's has a great selection of yarns, patterns, knitting needles and other knitting supplies but I sometimes find the staff there to be a little unfriendly to the novice knitter. I took lessons there and found the owner to be very nice but when I went back later with questions the staff person was quite rude. The yarn is reasonably priced and the store is a cozy place, so really my only complaint is the one rude staff person.
