A year ago my checking account kept getting fraudulent charges against it. Instead of helping me out of this situation they took away my debit card and refused to give me a new one. The latest problem I have with this bank is with their online banking. I scheduled payments on June 10th and two of my credit cards never received payment. I am not a customer of provident bank, But the church I go to is a customer and the person who takes the money every week it’s not available to take it, Many times I will take it for them, The location located in Dunellen, NJ Requires people to give them your Social Security number to make a deposit, and this is the only location that does that, their North Brunswick location is not required and their Piscataway location does not require. I encourage you to bank somewhere else. I chose this bank since it is convenient for me, and they were offering a good rate. However, I should’ve checked into other banks that have better availability of deposits (for large amounts they have a tiered system and it can take quite a while for the entire amount to be available), a non introductory rate (this was one year, then afterward immediately dropped to a laughable rate), lower minimums, the ability to transfer funds between accounts instantly (this institution cannot do ... read more
Provident Bank is the most outdated banking institution I’ve had the displeasure of doing business within the last 20 years. After 3 years of dealing with their dated policies, delayed communications, old school mentality and antiquated business practices, I couldn’t take it anymore. Unfortunately, their staff tend to match this culture, too. The lack of commitment to do better made me realize I don’t want to trust them with my financial needs.
This by far has been the worst bank I’ve ever been to. I had tons of coins and the teller told me to just dump it in the machine didn’t notify that there was a fee. If I knew there was a fee I would’ve kept my money. Afterwards they took my information in a piece of broken paper and when I asked for the paper before I left they said they can’t give it back because it has to go in their file.
