This is a monument containing the remains of 11,500 American prisoners of war during the Revolutionary war. They died as prisoners on British ships. The remains are not open for viewing. Not sure about the monument itself but, it's a nice view from the top of the stairs where the monument is located. This is the view from my home looking out from the 5th floor in Fort Greene projects where I grew up during the 50's and 60's. I played in this park all year round and went sleigh riding when it snowed.
