My grandad spent his last few weeks of life within Preston house and I can’t thank the staff enough for the exceptional care they provided for him and still currently my gran. They went above and beyond to make sure both my gran and grandad had everything they needed and got to spend as much time as they could together. Especially the manager Tracy who wholeheartedly cares about every staff and resident within Preston house I wouldn’t of had anyone else care for my grandad or my gran
We went into the home to visit our mum, two caseworkers were in the kitchen with some other residents who were sitting with tea/coffee, as we turned towards our mum's room, suddenly the "caseworkers" had to go change mum before letting us in! We listened at her door, neither of them spoke to mum, they did Not say what they were doing for mum, as we went into our mother's room two bits of poop landed on the floor, the caseworker wiped it up with whatever was in her hand and did not come back to clean it properly!!!
My dad has been here three months. He has Alzheimers and is easily distressed. The staff treat him kindly with a dose of banter thrown in, which he appreciates. He loves to go out and most days a staff member takes him for a wee walk outside. There's also regular bus trips and everyone gets out in the garden when weather permits. Some residents have dementia, some do not. It's never easy to put a loved one in care, but certainly up to this point, we are happy that Dad seems to be settling down.
