Precision Camera & Video Repair is in the Sony Pro network. I just joined Sony Pro, and you get three equipment cleanings per year as part of the membership. Well I had a spot on my FX-3 sensor that I couldn't remove myself, so I sent it in. What a great experience ... they sent me a pre-paid FedEx overnight label on Monday morning addressed to Precision Camera & Video Repair, I put it in FedEx that afternoon. Filled out a form on their website to fix my camera. They then returned it 3 weeks later saying they didn’t have the parts. I only sent it in because they were an authorized repair center, but they’re apparently pretty incompetent. Should’ve looked up the reviews.
Recently my Sony A7RV shut down. The screen went black and it wouldn’t turn on. After contacting Sony they recommended sending it in for repair. They had it sent to Precision Camera. I was nervous when I saw the reviews but sent my camera anyway. I sent my camera June 25th and got it back July 10th. They sent an email when they got it with a link to their website where I could check the status of my repair. I was so impressed with the packaging my camera was sent back in. I've been sending my Sony cameras in to Precision Camera for annual cleanings and maintenance for years. Love that they partner with Sony Pro Support, and how communicative they are with every camera or lens sent in. Great staff and prompt service!
Wildly overpriced repair estimates. If this your only repair option, you might as well start shopping for a new camera/lens. Two frustrating experiences with Sony & Ricoh equipment.
