80% or more of the bikes were not available due to maintenance issues. Took me a while to even find the app to unlock one. The one I did manage to unlock was crap--gears skipped in a dangerous way. I had to hunt down a station to return the bike, as many had no slots left to lock into. I could go on, but suffice it to say, go to a bike rental store before wasting your time and money on this poorly-operated bikeshare system.
The bikes are in awful shape and really poorly maintained. Two bikes I Tried to rent would not unlock their rear wheel. The third one I did finally rent, but the shifting did not work at all. A really poor example of a bike sharing program.

Do not use. Bikes are in poor condition, app is barely usable. Charged me extra many months after trying the service. All around putrid experience
Listen, I’m a huge fan of public bikes, but whatever company is running the bike share in Portland is an absolute joke. My wife and I were visiting from out of town (without a car) and tried to rent 2 bikes at 5 different stations today. We were unable to do so at any of them. The stations all had at least two bikes, but NONE of them worked. We must have tried at least 12 different bikes before giving up.
