Pleasant riding witout the hastle. Wow, I read a bad review about the ferry. My husband and I thought the exact oppisite. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing ride. We had coffee and some breakfast, looked out at the beautiful view and enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and the breeze delightful. I can't wait to go again. It is true there is not much on the other side but a short ride changes all that. Cracker Barrell exit 40 and Casinos a little further down.

Port Jefferson Ferry is Transportation In Port Jeff and decided to take the ferry across to Bridgeport, Ct. not knowing what was on the other side, but thought it would an enjoyable ride and sure there had to be stores we could spend some time in. Well, neither was true; not an enjoyable ride - long, slow, uneventful and nothing awaited us on the other side. Got back on the Ferry and came back to Pt. Jeff. This is just for transportation only ---- certainly not for enjoyment.

Take the ferry I've taken the ferry a bunch of times over the years, as has my family. If you don't want to drive, it's the way to go. It is expensive and continues to get even more expensive over the years. It's almost always on time and they get you on and off in a jiffy.
