Knowing the difference since 1893 Our founder Mr Harry Ponsford started the company in 1893, originally selling goods from a wheelbarrow. By the 1930's the business was flourishing and moved to its location on London Road, Sheffield - the premise we still occupy today. We maintain the same principles today for quality of product and service that were promoted by Harry in the late 19th century.

We went in one day, me and my house mate dress really casual so it was a case of books and covers. All the staff looked at us did not even say hello. If it was up to me we would have left. My house mate carried on looking them a guy came over to say hello. This gent has not seen us till this point and he was amazing, and he gained a 4k sale just from saying hello. After trawling around the “usual suspects” for furniture (you can probably guess where) we always end up at Pondsfords. Then find what we want and of a quality we expect. All the staff; sales, financial and delivery are excellent, friendly and extremely helpful. We’ve purchased quite a few of the “big” items of furniture from there (often Ercol) and it’s always been a positive experience. Highly recommended if you want to buy a quality piece of furniture.
This store is nothing short of AMAZING! Visited for the first time and saw so many quality items. Now we won’t shop anywhere else. Bought a beautiful marble outdoor table and was delivered in perfect condition yesterday. The sales staff are beyond helpful and can’t do enough for you. They don’t follow you around, they don’t hassle you. They let you know they’re there to help and they leave you in peace until you’re ready. Just overall a perfect experience.
