Received a check from my grandmother for my birthday. Her account is with PNC. She lives in a retirement community and has quite a bit of money since Grandad passed away. Anyway, I went to PNC in Bel Air today to cash the birthday check. I was told that since I did not have an account there, I would have to pay 2.5% to cash the check. Can't get answers to routine questions online, and can't reach people on the phone. It is VERY difficult to do business with PNC bank as a whole. The online services like pinacle don't work or are very difficult to navigate, and they are unnecessarily complex and confusing and wastes a lot time. Then you need to spend hours or even days on the phone trying to get answers or get online issues resolved. I would not recommend PNC for business banking at all.
This branch has hands down the worst customer service even by large bank standards. My fiancé and I came in several months ago to be added to each other’s accounts. We had a pleasant conversation with the employee assisting us, and all was assumed to be fine. However after a few days we still didn’t see each other’s accounts in online banking.
