We came in and actually ended up buying a new saddle, even though our interaction with the staff wasn't exactly awesome. However, the manager completely ruined the rest of the experience. We ordered a pair of shoes that sadly didn’t fit. Rather than coming up with a workable solution, the manager decided that the shop would keep the original shoes, and told us if we ordered a larger size it was a strict "you buy it, you own it" deal. Placid Planet is an outstanding local bike shop with knowledgeable staff and a great selection of gear.
My wife and I just visited Placid Planet today to get some emergency work done on my bike before I go on a multi-day trip. It is one and a half hours from my home but well worth it. Jeff and crew got done what I needed and went beyond, fixing things I didn't realize needed to be done. They also allowed my wife to test ride 2 electric bikes she is contemplating buying and no high pressure to buy. Jeff was very informative on the differences between the bikes. Thank you Jeff. We will be back.
