Deer Isle and the surrounding area are breathtakingly beautiful. The area is a haven for all sorts of performing and visual artists. There are hiking trails for all levels of proficiency that are easily accessible. The Pilgrim’s Inn is an interesting, historic structure with modern conveniences. We just came to eat in the dining room room, so I could not speak to the inn itself. The staff were so hospitable and cheerful, and our waiter Elliot made the evening so fun for all of us, including giving recommendations on which dishes to try. There are lots of surprising items on the menu, so don’t be shy about asking questions! The dining room has an amazing view of the water, too, and I recommend showing up for your dinner reservation a little early so you can look at the grounds. The food was wonderful. One of my favorite experiences in Deer Isle.
I’m very concerned about the new ownership’s approach to parking. It’s disappointing to see employees and owners consistently taking the prime parking spots, which creates challenges for guests and nearby businesses in this small village. In most Maine communities, local establishments show care for their neighbors by parking a bit farther away, leaving the most accessible spaces for visitors and those supporting local shops.
