I just completed an 'Introduction to Drawing' class held at the Sertoma Art Center. What I really thought was helpful was his consistent message to concentrate on the form and not the details. For a beginner such as myself it allowed me to be more confident in my efforts and concentrate on drawing fundamentals such as value, light, perspective and composition. I took the six-week Introduction to Painting class with Peter Marin at Sertoma Arts Center, and I'd highly recommend it. It's a great introduction to the fundamentals of painting with in-class exercises and weekly painting assignments. All skill levels were welcome.
