Peter J. Shields Library was honestly one of the most frustrating study spaces I’ve used. For a university library, I expected a calm and productive environment, but instead it felt more like a social lounge than a place for serious academic work. The noise level was constant and distracting, making it nearly impossible to focus for long periods. A nice place for students
The library’s facility is great, but here kids are yapping and giggling everywhere including 4th floor, and nobody stops it.
I do NOT recommend this place. The staff here do not enforce any policies at all. Both students AND staff can be seen frequently chatting in explicitly designated quiet zones as labelled by posted signage. I have tried numerous strategies to mitigate my frustration with this. I have bought ear plugs to no avail. I have tried filing formal complaints but no action has been taken. I have tried to ask people to quiet down, but most seem to ignore me.
