I was represented by Heidi Menkes and extremely disappointed to experience a strategy of pure manipulation and deliberate aggravation to the opposite party to push my case for as long as possible and charge as many wasted billable hours as possible. She deliberately avoided mediation. At a time when the quality of your mental health and the future life of the children matter, she had no issue with her confusing and contradictory tactic. An awful way to be represented.

I was on the other side of a family law matter where this firm represented the other parent. In my experience, their approach felt unnecessarily aggressive and made it harder for me to feel comfortable trying to reach an agreement. I felt more reliant on the court process and less able to work towards a settlement as a result. I was disappointed to be billed for an email in which I informed the firm that I no longer wished to retain their services. In my view, this reflected poorly on the value and professionalism of the engagement. The advice I received did not provide clear or actionable guidance for my situation, which ultimately led me to decide I would not work with them again. I had been told it was an excellent firm, so my experience was a serious letdown.

My experience with Heidi Menkes at Pearson Emerson Family Lawyers was disappointing. After paying over $160,000 in legal fees, the firm abruptly ended their services just two months before a critical court hearing.
