We have lived in Kuranda for 23 years and have always used Payless timbers as loyal local customers. In 2020 we build a large fish pond surrounded by a deck with timber from Payless. By 2022 the timber was starting to rot. It got so bad we have had to replace it all. Payless owner saw this as our problem and not the inferior quality of timber that it clearly was. The hardwood timber was bent and unusable. The owner/manage told me this was just the way it came. He would not allow his employee to help me find some straight pieces. He was rude and uninterested in helping me. I walked out. I cannot believe this business makes money. Shoddy products and rude management. The guy who helped me was the only positive in the entire experience.
They were very extremely easy to deal with, along with being professional & knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble from showing me the product I was buying to wrapping it & loading it up in the trailer, I even got a bonus discount, was extremely happy with that, so when I ever need anything again I’ll definitely be going back.
As always top & friendly advice. Thats why I always come back
