The Payless counter closed at 3 p.m., and the sign that directed us to the Budget counter showed a long line with 12-15 people ahead of me and more coming behind me, and they only had one person working. We are visiting here from Mississippi, and it seems like it is the same way at the Mississippi airport. I do not know who owns Payless, Thrifty, etc., but for this to go on in multiple states hundreds of miles apart is ridiculous. I thought it would be better, but I was wrong. My flight was delayed, so I called ahead to confirm the rental counter would still be open. I was assured it would be, even though it was after the official closing time. The rental car shuttle picked up all of us from the flight and dropped us at a totally empty rental car facility. Everyone was stranded. Terrible.
I would give 0 stars if I could. Here's the breakdown of what happened: Jun 30 I book a midsize Kia through Expedia. I didn't pay special attention to which car rental company it was with. The rental is for Aug 18 - Sep 1. Aug 18 (11pm) I arrive at the counter and was told all they had left in the fleet were 12-person passenger vans. The counter agent said it was *possible* I could exchange it for a midsize at an Avis/Budget in Santa Fe, since they're all the same company... but not to quote him on it. I will never rent on this place again
Absolutely terrible experience. I prepaid my rental through Booking.com and was told the $250 charge on my card was only a security deposit. After returning the vehicle on time and refueling it immediately before drop-off, I was charged nearly $50 for fuel anyway. I have the fuel receipt proving I filled the tank. To make matters worse, I never received the final rental receipt I was promised, making it difficult to even understand the charge.
