This rental location historically has a long wait. I have used them many times because my company insists on it. When I showed up to get my rental, I was told I would have a 2 hour wait. I had a reservation. I waited and got a car. Once I got out of town, the vehicle would vibrate when driving above 63 miles per hour. I called Payless and they said I needed to return the car. Payless is the lower tier of Avis; if Avis runs out of cars the system WILL take cars promised to Payless customers to fulfil Avis reservations. The Avis front desk staff were incredibly helpful during this frustrating process and it's unfortunate that Avis forces them to have to be the ones to inform customers they no longer have a car. Definitely don't recommend pre-paying for your reservation because the car might still disappear. The staff are the only positives.
Payless in Memphis airport was very easy. Drop off area was also very good. we got the vehicle we desired and it performed wonderfully. would rent again .
Worst car rental experience ever!! I'm 60 years young and have been renting vehicles for 40 years.
It's wasn't worth saving any amount of money for this experience. I was given a fully electric car since this is all they had left and never having driven one before I had no idea how to operate it or how to check the charge. They told me it wouldn't have to be charged even though after I started driving I found the indicator light that showed it was only 50% charged.
