Earl restored an original painting that was given to my mother by the artist, a college friend of hers. It had been hanging on the living room wall at our home since the early 70's and I had always loved it. When we recently sold our childhood home, I realized that I had no way to ship it to my home in Oregon and also noticed that it was dirty and paint seemed to be running down the canvas in some spots.
