My Mum spent the last four years of her life at Oaklands. She was not always easy to handle and suffered from Alzheimer's. I have only the highest regard for Gresh, the manager and his wonderful staff who looked after Mum with the utmost care and patience. This is a professional team who are devoted to providing the best support they possibly can. Communication was excellent and my sister and I were well informed about all aspects of Mum's life. If Carlsberg made care homes it would be Oakland's. Oakland's is a small well run care home where everything is done properly. The owner and all the staff really care for their residents. Rooms are basic but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Food is varied and always well cooked and presented. Residents are kept stimulated and comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. This is a small fantastic care home. The management, the carers, the cooks, the housekeeping, and the district nurses all really care passionately about the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. It is comfortable, homely and safe. The food is home cooked and nourishing and special requirements are catered for. Outside is a lovely garden which is well maintained with seating, bird feeders and plenty of space for residents to enjoy summer weather.
