Northwestern California University School of Law (NWCULaw) was founded 37 years ago. It began as an external degree granting law school and is now the oldest degree-granting online law school in the country offering online correspondence-based distance education. Its programs were developed so that economic obstacles, family commitments, remoteness of location, and other hardships would not prevent deserving individuals from studying law. The School currently has approximately 500 enrolled students, and over the many years o... read more

First of all, the negative reviews about this school are completely accurate. While most schools uphold their prerequisites professionally, this institution is disorganized, unprofessional, and lacks basic administrative structure. I hold a Doctorate, a Master’s, and two Bachelor’s degrees—all from accredited U.S. institutions, including a medical degree from USC Despite my qualifications, after three months of receiving repeated messages that my application was “still pending,” I was suddenly sent a denial letter. The lette... read more
I just stated NWCU (3 weeks in) and I’m not sure why other people leave negative reviews. It’s an online school so you need to study yourself! However, they give you all the tools and resources to study. I’m impressed with a WEEKLY study plan they provide. Not sure if it wasn’t the case before but now they give you all the structure you need. They literally tell you what to study each week. And the tuition is affordable and allows to graduate without student debt which is a huge plus, IMHO!!!
Many will seek to be enrolled in this school because its tuition is significantly cheaper than what is available to us via the traditional law school route. DON’T WASTE YOUR EFFORT AND MONEY HERE! It is cheap for a reason… it lacks the administrative/human elements required for its students to succeed as they would otherwise at an ABA accredited law school. My first year I completed all required essays and class work however I became severely ill just before final exams. I was hospitalized for four months and came to weigh o... read more
I am presently a 1L . The reviews that I have read about NWCU has been negative by far. But it is untrue that this school has incompetent professors and that the programs are unstructured. Having the access to watch the previous classes through recordings is as much an upside as it can be, because you can choose whose live lectures you'd want to join, with the lecturer that has the teaching style that you like. They have a syllabus for each subject providing a month-by-month outline and calendar guide to ensure that you are ... read more
I've read most negative comments about this school and as a student there I have to disagree with them. Law School is not for everyone, but those that choose this path need to be disciplined, mature, focused, determined, and above all confident that they can obtain an accredited law degree without having the burden of a traditional law school tuition. The school prepares students to pass the California Bar Exam, the toughest bar exam in the nation. The success rate has been above 50% meaning at least half of the student body... read more
