I had a disappointing experience with New Century Federal Credit Union during my home equity loan process. Months after my loan had already closed, I was contacted and told I needed to provide proof of flood insurance. When I asked why this was only being brought up now, I received a written response admitting that it is the credit union’s policy to obtain proof of flood insurance at closing, but that they failed to ask me for it before my loan was finalized. Not good. Would not let me open an account. I live and work in the area my whole life. Strange place. Other credit unions are better. Like Nu Mark.
