I brought myeight-year-old sonto Colin for Neurofeedback to address typical ADHD symptoms including difficulties with executive functioning,task initiation and emotional dysregulation. I tried a neurofeedback session with Colin when I was experiencing some extreme insomnia. I had been sleeping 3-5 hours a night and was barely functioning during the day. The night after I had the first session, I slept 9 hours and continued to have good nights after that. The most surprising thing was that I have been able to manage my anxiety much better since that first session. It’s a challenge to capture in words the magnitude of the work I did with Colin. I sought out neurofeedback in order to work with fear. Due to the extent of trauma I experienced as a child, when trying to work with fear in my personal practice, I repeatedly found myself stuck in a freeze state, left to sit alone in terror that stubbornly would not resolve.
