If I could give zero stars— I would. We reserved a vehicle after our flights were canceled, when we got to the Nanaimo airport at 10:50 pm there was NOBODY there. Business hours state that this location is open until 12:30 am. Entirely unhelpful and falsely advertised. Love that Employees can simply close up whenever they like! Not affiliated with national in other areas, so if you need to rearrange your travel plans when WestJet cancels your flight they’ll try to charge you an extra $3000 for pickup. No one available at counter most of the time. Won’t answer calls.
I had an excellent rental experience with National at the Nanaimo airport. I rented for a week to head to Port Alberni. When I arrived, I realized that the price reserved through Expedia was in US$. The attendant at the counter honoured a much better price through WestJet. A few days into my trip, the island was hit with a snow storm and they allowed me to change my rental to a AWD at no extra charge. The worst experience with a company ever. Period. This location is managed independently of corporate, and as a result, policies and service are inconsistent with the brand. Will spare all the details, but in short, you can expect no National Roadside Assistance should you require it, I was left stranded with no car for five days and received no compensation - simply told to change the tire myself, and on top of it all, not only did I absorb the cost associated with the brand new tire I dropped the car off with, but also cha... read more
