Service engine light was on when we first started the vehicle and stayed on the entire time we had the vehicle!!!! Vehicle was filthy when we got in! Candy and food under all seats! Do better cleaning on these vehicles! We paid full price for our rental and were provided a junk vehicle that obviously needed serviced and cleaned! Same thing every time we rent with National!

I enjoyed the ease of picking my rental vehicle up when I arrived at the airport. I, also enjoyed the same when I returned my car to the airport. Thanks National Car Rental.

In February of 2026, I booked a car for pickup at Lihue, HI in June. In early June, after experiencing an issue attempting to rent another vehicle, I decided to follow up and make sure there would be a car in HI. When I called, I was told there would be no car available and that they would rebook me with a partner. During that phone call the initial reservation was cancelled and a new one made. My husband rented an SUV for a road trip for us and while the vehicle was nice it was also dirty. They did not do a very good job of cleaning it or wiping it down at all. Food under the seats, door handles had fingerprints on them, doors were dirty, windows were dirty. We had to completely wipe it down before using it. They need to do better at cleaning out the vehicles and wiping them down. Customer service at counters are friendly and quick.
