About this business

NAMI-NYC helps families and individuals affected by mental illness build better lives through education, support, and advocacy. We believe everyone deserves help dealing with mental illness. Every day, our trained volunteers - who all have lived experience with mental illness, either with a family member, or in themselves - teach classes, lead support groups, and give people a voice in the conversation. Because 1 in 5 will have a mental illness in their life, and the other 4 are their family and friends - no one should deal ... read more

Wonderful to see such a vast amount of support options here at NAMI . They have various social groups consisting of knitting , photography and so many more . They also have classes you can take to help yourself . Everyone that I’ve come into contact has been very nice and caring . Get online and check it out . They even do zooms where you can have your camera off and just listen . No pressure to participate unless you decide you want to ,

More compassionate than the wackjob crisis lines. Still something off. Trying to push me to live in public housing. Why would you encourage someone to live there if you are compassionate? Nothing against it, mind you. Just seems bullying and belittling. Now she is rubbing my face in talking to a social worker now that I am in the hospital. Elitist. I have massive amount of money in student loan debt. Not taking out more to go to Social work school.

NAMI is an honorable organization, they truly care about destigmatizing mental health and helping those with mental illness. I’m proud to have volunteered with NAMI, I recommend others do the same. Mental Health is critically important for a safe and healthy NYC, we are truly our brothers keeper.
