I had the pleasure of playing on a Nate Slobodkin cello for a week not long ago. What a dream! The cello was so beautiful, the tone was spectacular - each day I couldn’t wait to play it. Can’t wait to come back and perhaps play it again. Nate is the consummate luthier. After playing cello for almost 50 years, I’d trust Nate with any instrument, hands down. A true craftsman.

Visiting Nate's shop is like stepping back in time, into an era when hand tools and detailed craftsmanship were the norm. One never knows what you'll see or the stories you'll hear. Nate is a wealth of knowledge about historical and modern instruments and shares his knowledge freely. I purchased a moderately-priced cello from him a few years ago and he always seems to care about my instrument, even though it's not a fancy, expensive instrument. I highly recommend Slobodkin Violins!
