There's no problem with their customer service. When I went here to shop for some books, I was surprised with how organized and clean the place is. There's no problem with their customer service.

I've been to three signings here and the store is great. The staff is wonderful and I'm glad they're doing so well. They have a sister store in Los Angeles, but the San Diego location is still my favorite.

If you’re a fan of Martians, Murder, Magic, Mayhem…Mysterious Galaxy is your marvelous mecca. A genre-independent bookstore, Mysterious Galaxy specializes in science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense and horror. Walk into the store and you’ll notice the attractive shelf displays and tasteful décor that make for enjoyable title browsing. Bunny Hand, manager of Mysterious Galaxy shared a bit about the bookstore, “We promote all independent bookstores. The owners do a great job at getting authors in here.” With an emphasis on fellow small book retailers, Mysterious Galaxy comes alongside of Yellow Book Road, Warwicks and Bookworks in a collective effort to generate publicity. Paired with involvement in Comic Con, forming library partnerships and participation in book festivals, there is no shortage of establishment of community ties. Currently the sole Mysterious Galaxy located in Clairemont, Maryelizabeth Hart, Terry Louchheim Gilman, and Jeff Mariotte are co-owners of the bookstore. December 2010 was an important month for Mysterious Galaxy, in that their launch with e-books began, as well as an event held on December 11 that featured eight authors to sign books. Additionally, the bookstore collaborates with the smaller book retailers mentioned previously to compile a Wish Book, a thin booklet that highlights top picks, new releases and upcoming book releases. The customer loyalty at Mysterious Galaxy is rewarded with being added to the A-List. That is how you know you’ve soared into the galaxy. The 10% off purchase perk, also extended to those serving in the military is a nice reward for continued patronage. Mysterious Galaxy hours: Monday through Thursday: 10am to 7pm. Friday: 10am to 8pm. Saturday and Sunday: 10am to 5pm.

Money isn't *everything*... The reason you would purchase at a brick and mortar store instead of with a vendor that who can afford to lose money on books whilst they gain massively on advertising and the like, is because you value the expertise and selection and knowledge of an independent bookstore and you value your money staying local. Mysterious Galaxy is awesome, their selection exhaustive, their suggestions spot-on, their author events FANTASTIC... Gosh.

Your average expensive local bookstore It's nice to visit as it specializes in mystery, science fiction, and other interesting fiction books... but the question is, why would you stop in for more than just to peruse?

very cute, kind of pricey Like all independent bookstores, this isn't the cheapest place in the world. But it's got a very cosy and warm atmosphere that you can't really get at one of the larger chain stores. The service is friendly and the selection is somewhat limited as the store isn't that large. Check out their specialty sections though, they're great.

Do-Do-Do-Do....Do-Do-Do-Do Are you in the twilight zone???? No! You're at the very cool Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore.... if you are into science fiction, mystery, etc... you'll love this bookstore. It's a unique store that caters to books that fall into the realm of the mysterious. The staff at this store is VERY knowledgable and stay very current on new sci fi books. They are friendly and more than willing to help you out. As a teacher I went in to browse and the girl that helped me was able to give me information on many books to help steer me in the right direction for what I was looking for. They host special events such as author signings and book discussions. I noticed that they have a lot of signed books in the store too that are available for purchase. If this is genre is your nook, you'll really like this place.

Great independent bookstore! Mysterious Galaxy is a welcoming, well stocked bookstore with an outstanding staff. Authors often speak there and have book signings, which are always entertaining. The selection is terrific, and you even receive a discount for every $100 you spend, which can be cummulative. Love a mystery? You will enjoy this store! (Also a large section of science fiction books.)
