Enjoyed the ice skating there I took an ice skating class at Mt Vernon Rec Center. The ice could have been Zambonied more frequently so it didn't have so many ruts, but I guess that you get what you expect when so many public skaters are using the ice. The staff handing out the rental skates were friendly. One time the skates that they handed to me needed to be sharpened and so were difficult to skate on, but they replaced the skates, and the price was reasonable. The seating area is adequate. Huge Pool, Ice Rink, plenty of exercise and fitness options The Mount Vernon rec center, located conveniently at the corner of Ft. Hunt Road and Belle View Boulevard, has an ice rink for hockey, recreational skating, or figure skating, an olympic-sized pool, and plenty of exercise equipment. All of it is available for a few bucks a day. This is a great place for all ages.
Wonderfull This is one of the best places I've found in years. It's a large complex with plenty of free parking and a nice drop off area. You can join their gym on a monthly basis or stop in for a one time (pay as you go) work out. But my favorite is the Ice Rink. There is always plenty of supervision and a drug free atmosphere to drop your older children off for a 2 hour skating session. Many other activities.
