I have had nothing but bad experiences with M&T bank. I opened accounts online and transferred funds only to try to login to my account and have my access blocked. I was given no notice and they gave me a number to call and upon calling I was told to go to the branch in person to find out why and that a phone call was not sufficient. I can’t even get an answer as to why they just closed my account after accepting my transfer. I don’t drive so this is a major inconvenience for me. M&T Bank has some of the worst “customer service” I’ve ever dealt with. They actually blocked my Zelle when I was trying to move my own money, my own funds and then made me jump through hoops by calling a fraud line just to unlock it. On top of that, they sit there asking invasive personal questions over the phone, which is ironic considering they claim it’s for “security.” So somehow I’m supposed to feel safer giving sensitive information to a random person on the phone just to access my own account? Great branch with a very personal touch to customer service. Carlos O. Has been great and is very knowledgeable on the financial products they offer and has great attention to detail. If you are shopping around for a new bank and would like a more personal experience, I recommend.
Understaffed, I was hung up on once when I called to ask a question, this guard has literally been sitting here in his phone like he's on vacation, like unless you just need to deposit a check or do something with a teller I wont try this bank.
