Worst bank ever. Deposited my check into someone elses account. Shut off my card on a sunday for "suspicious activity", it was me. Atm ate my card. Fees are outrageous.
Between 2023 to 2025, I experienced fraudulent debit card transactions with M&T Bank. I now feel compelled to lock the debit card 24 hours a day via their app to prevent this from happening again a 3rd time. I understand this can happen at any bank but out of the dozen places I deal with only with M&T it happened not once but twice. I was very surprised in this scenario to have such distrust considering M&T Bank is one of the largest regional banks.
Absolute crooks ruining people's lives. They quoted us 90 days to close after selling our house, since the buyers are assuming our VA loan. We are supposed to close in 2 days, and we just got a call that they won't be ready to close for 2 more weeks. Now we can't close on the home we are buying and we are living off our savings at this point. If I could give negative stars, I would.
NY State law requires auto lien holders to issue a lien release within three business days of the loan being satisfied. M&T refuses to issue a lien release in fewer than ten business days, even when informed it is in violation of NYS law. If you value receiving services in compliance with the law, M&T is not the bank for you.
