In having a home refinanced to remove myself from the loan due to my divorce, I was told I would need to be present for the closing (this was not true) and was mandated to sign closing documents with me listed as a borrower. I refused, then had to pay my divorce attorney to review the documents who then had to contact a real estate lawyer, as my spouse's lawyer threatened me with litigation for not signing these fraudulent documents from Mortgage Connect.
