One of the bouncers was very nice and polite, let me in after I had to step outside for a moment to take a call and was very kind… The lady who does the stamping… I can’t say the same. i was told there was no fee and when i entered i was not given a stamp, I had gone outside to take a call and was let in by the friendly bouncer and was then yelled at by the stamp lady because i never got a stamp and was confused as to why i had to have one when i had been in there previously? very disappointing as i was excited to spend my S... read more

The music is good, especially on Saturdays when they play throwbacks, but I really don’t appreciate some of the ways they try to squeeze extra money out of you. Cover is $10, and they accept card — but apparently only if you’re paying for at least 2 people. So if I want to use my card to pay my own $10 cover, I basically have to pay $20 for entry?? How does that make any sense? If the issue is the card processing fee, then charge me the extra 2% or whatever the fee is. I’d rather pay a few cents extra than literally double t... read more

Modern Love is the most disappointing bar in Calgary. Truly, the definition of mid. Their business strategy is to use Dov Charney-esq photos of their female patrons as advertising for their lazy DJ nights, and steal events from Dickens when they bother to host live music. It's giving predatory 😬 It's been a few months since the last time I visited. Are the bathroom doors still literally falling off the door frames? Bottom line: you deserve to spend your 20s someplace better.

The bartenders are all great and the atmosphere is awesome but the woman who operates the front door needs to be fired. She has a horrible attitude and doesn't know how to do her job properly. She spends most of her time looking at her phone, lets people walk in free and then charges others. If you bring up any issue with her she takes zero accountability.
