I was growing very tired of my timeshare fees that kept going up and up and up. During a vacation to Hawaii I was persuaded to attend a "resort tour" in return for a free dinner at a local 5-star restaurant. Getting rid of a drag of a timeshare does take a little bit of money but compared to the ongoing cost of owning a time share for life, it was pennies and worth every cent I paid.
