Canal Boats The best experience for the inexperienced or the experienced boater one can have on the water and there could not be a better way to absorb what Upstate New York has to offer than a week or 2 in the comfort of your fully equipped and very unique canal boat. You are the captain! It is the closest thing to canaling on the French canal boats but without the expensive airfares, language barrier, or having to explain George Bush and Dick Cheney. This is on the list of the "Must do before you die" Do It. I did.

Erie Canal Cruises We enjoyed their Sunday brunch cruise on the historic Erie canal very much. The prices were reasonable and the food was very good. They also offer some unique self-skippered canal boat rental programs. You are taught how to skipper the craft, and can tour the canal and Finger Lakes for a week-long excursion at your leisure, of the various historic towns and countryside that line the canal.
