I had a custodial account opened up for me at Merrill Lynch years ago. Now that I am older, I wanted to transfer it to my individual account at another brokerage. My grandfather invested with ML for decades. He passed away from Alzheimer’s in his early 70’s at which point my grandmother wanted to liquidate his investments after seeing a pattern of expensive fees and unnecessary buy/sell orders. This branch made it incredibly difficult to transfer their money to the local bank and continued with unnecessary buy/sell orders, commissions, and fees.
